Pamukkale / The Cotton Castle

Pamukkale - Cotton Castle
PAMUKKALE (Cotton Castle) say Turkish people to this terraces which are made of travertine. Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs, in this case by hot spring. The location of this beautiful travertines is Denizli in southwestern Turkey. In the Denizli area there are 17 hot water springs where the temperature of the water changes from 35 °C to 100 °C.

This magnificant place is visited from tourist which are coming from all over the World. Pamukkale travertine is just one attraction, this place is also well known and recognized as a World Heritage Site together with Hierapolis

The ancient Greko-Roman and Byzantine city of Hierapolis was built ot the top of the (For the Map, Please visit the link "Map of Hierapolis") white "cotton castle" which is about 2.700 m long and 600 m wide and 160 m in hight. This place is 20 km far from the city Denizli.

Hierapolis Theatre
Hierapolis, the former Roman Bath of the ancient city has been used as Hierapolis Archaelogy Museum since 1984. Besides to the travertine and ancient theatre in this museum there are also artifacts remainings from Colossae, Tripolis Laodiceia, Attuda and other towns of the Lycos valley which is called Çürüksu in turkish.
The Roman Theater which is seen on the left dates back to the 2nd century and had a capacity of 12,000 seats. Two Emperors, Hadrian and Septimius Severus, were responsible for its amazing construction. The theatre was restored in the 1970's but work is still continuing on the site. Hierapolis had about 100,000 residents, but was destroyed several times by earthquakes.
Antic Pool

Hospitality was very important at those tmes therefore Romans built the SPA city of Hierapolis so that their visitors could experience and enjoy the therapeutic thermal baths. This Antique Pool has remnants of marble columns scattered a long the pools ground. It is an attraciton amoung the tourists to swim in the pool. 

The pool is popular among the tourist because of its atmosphere where people feel themselves like ancient people and because its chemical content. The pool has benefits for the health which are functional diseases of heart and blood pressure, obesity, constipation, chronic gastritis,  catarrhal diseases of upper respiratory tract, chronic bronchitis, inflammatory rheumatic disorders in remission stages, postoperative rehabilitation of orthopedic operations.

LAKE BLED / SLOVENIA

Lake Bled - Slovenia
Lake Bled is one of the beautiful lakes in Europe. It is very famous for its location and natural view which makes this place one of the most visited places in every season of the year. This lake is a glacial lake located in the Julian Alps in the part of nothwestern Slovenia. 
The lake is situated near the town of Bled. The lake has a surface of 1,45 km2 and max. length of 2.120 m and max. width of 1.380 m. 
As can be seen from the fotograf on the right ( all pictures have been taken from flickr) it is situated in a marvelous enviroment, surrrounded by mountains and forests. The historical Bled Castle is located above the lake on the north shore. The Zaka Valley between the Alps lies at the west end of the lake.

The only natural island in Slovenia is surrounded by the lake Bled. The island has several buildings. The most important historical building on the island is the church of the Assumption of Mary (Cerkev Marijinega vnebovzetja) which also Pilgrimage. The Churh built in the 15th century is famous for the weddings which are held regularly during the year. There are 99 step which leads up to the church and it is considered good luck for the groom to carry his bride up the 99 steps on the day of their wedding before ringing the bell and making a wish inside the building.

Thermal hot spring is a spring that is produced by the emergence of geothermally heated groundwater from the Earth's crust (ground). There are geothermal hot springs in many locations all over the crust of the World.

Because heated water can hold more dissolved solids, warm and especially hot springs also often have a very high mineral contents, containing everything from simple calcium to lithium, and even radium. Because of both the folklore and the claimed medical value some of these springs have, they are often popular tourist destinations, and locations for rehabilitation clinics for those with disabilities.
