Einz, Zwei, Drei, Prost !!!
The 177th Oktoberfest starts on 18th of September and will end on the 4th of October 2010. As usual the official starting ceremony will take place this time in the "Schottenhamel Beer Tent". This year there are expected more than 6,5 million visitors to the Wiesn where the event is held. Everybody will swarm to the tents to get a place inside the tent which will be extremely difficult. The beer tents open at 10:00am on weekdays and close at 11:30pm. On the weekends the tents open at 9:00am. All the tents except the “Weinzelt” and the “Kaefer’s Wiesnschaenke” close at 11:30pm. These two tents serve alcohol till 12:15am.

The famous Bavarian beer, you drink it from cups which is called "Mass". It is a must see event which is held anually. The event is that much big that everybody wants to join it. Here are some figures to show you the proportion; 14 giant tents with a seating capacity of 100.000 which are serving 5,5 million litres of Beer, more than 600,000 fried chickens and 84 heads of cattle. The annual commercial value of the whole thing is estimated at a minimum of 0.7 billion Euro.

I have been there twice and would go each year. It is an amazing atmosphere especially during the night. You can not get enough of beer, breze or semmel, chicken or bratwurst which is my favorite. Do not forget to go early to get a place in the tents...... : )
