With a population of around 1.500.000, 4.000.000 with its surroundings, is Barcelona the second biggest city in Spain. It is located on the northeastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula and the shores of the Mediterranean.
Barcelona is also the capital of Catalonia (Cataluña) which is one of the 17 autonomous communities in Spain. Two languages namely Spanish and Castillian Spanish (Catalan) is spoken officially. Approximately 75 % of the population understand Catalan and the signs in most of the shops, restaurants, bars, trafic signs and other establishments are in written in Spanish and Catalan. Barcelona is Spain´s most cosmopolitain city and has a port which is on of the most busiest of the Mediterranean. Because of having a shore to the Mediterranean the
climate is more pleasent compared to most other parts of Spain. Winters are mild with a average of 10 degrees C and summers have an average temperature of 25 C.
 

 
Sagrada Familia
The history of Barcelona goes back to the Romans and it was founded in the second century BC. The city was on of the first areas in Europe to industrialise and therefore it baceme the name "la petita manchester" at the end of the 18th century. Some of the famous architectures are presented here in Barcelona and you can discover and see the concentration of Gothic architecture too. You will be also amazed when you are in front of the Sagrada Familia which was capped by Antoni Gaudi.



Bogatell Beach
There are 7 Playas (Beaches) in Barcelona which are perfect to enjoy the sun and sea within the city. The beaches are only 10 minutes away from the city center and are taking place on 4,60 kilometers along to coast of Barcelona. All of the beaches are generally good and have clean water in order to refresh yourself in the Mediterranean. The names of the beaches are; Sant Sebastiá, Barceloneta, Nova icária, Bogatell, Mar Bella, Nova Mar Bella and Llevant.

And not to forget the official football team of Barcelona which is FC BARCELONA. The Catalan´s say 

                 Més Que Un Club - 'More Than A Club' 

A Catalan sports club founded by a Swiss footballer while on a vacation to visit his uncle in Barcelona in 1899 by Joan Gamper. Since that time "Barca" (how they call it) has approached many goals through his history and is now on of the best teams within Europe.
