There are around 225 inhabited islands, sorrounded by crystal clear blue seawater which are offering an ancient view over the Mediterrenean. Some of the islands become so popular that they are inhabited the whole year where others have only to summer time visitors. The caracteristics of the islands are changing, some of them are green, others only rocky whereas others are mountainous or flat. Many are infamous for their nightlife, while others are renowned for their tranquility and relaxed lifestyle. A few  of them provide luxury tourism and exclusive crowds, while there are islands that attract young and alternative types of tourists.

1. SANTORINI (Thira)

5. CEPHALONIA

This island is a paradise for nature lovers. This green island has a special Fir (Picea Pectinata) which grows only here and no where else in the world. On the other hand it is an island with miracles, on the day of the Virgin Mary which is the 15th of August snakes come into the village Markopoulo, blessing the Church of The Lady with their presence.There is a flower growing on the island that only blossoms on this day.



6. PAROS

You can arrive to this island either by sea or by air, you will be impressed from the start to finish. This island is in the heart of the Cyclades Islands. Besides to the golden beaches you will discover here also one of the most important Byzantine monuments which is the Church Katapoliani. 7. CORFU (Kerkyra)

Is a island which is very close to Italy therefore and influenced by it.

8. SKHIATOS

It is a green island with over 60 beaches. It has a tradition of shipbuilding, and together with the fertile soil it became an important resting place for expeditions and travellers. It is believed that both the Greek fleet against Troy, as well as Jason and the Argonauts made a stop here before sailing on.

Also this island has many beaches and one of the famous one is Lindos. Rhodes has also ancient history, The Colossus of Rhodes was a huge statue of the god Helios. It was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.





10. IOS

Ios is a Greek island of the Cyclades Island group in the Aegean Sea. It is a hilly island with cliffs down to the sea on most sides, situated  between  Santorini and Naxos. This island is famous for its nightlife and therefore it is called also "The Part Island". Many visitors are coming to live the excitement and the great fun provided by the many night clubs and bars.
